French Massage Championship

PRESENTATION

Since 2010, the French Massage Championship has been the historic event for wellness professionals and the reference for massage competitions!

With the aim of reaching for excellence in wellness massage, to ensure that this competition is always more qualitative and to move away from school codes, the candidates present a "signature" massage from the establishment that they represent.

Each candidate is selected on dossier and 40 of them will have the opportunity to present their protocol to the members of the jury.

At the end of the competition, 5 "signature" massages will be rewarded with the title of French Massage Champion, a prize awarded to the practitioner as well as to the employing centre.

The course of the competition

Before the competition, the candidates will have to specify to the jury the purpose of their "signature" massage and the main movements they will be required to undertake.

A distinction will be made between the purpose of the massage, which may be relaxing, toning, energising, regenerating, etc., and the metabolic system of the body on which the Spa practitioner will act.

It will also be required to take care of the "model" before and after the technical part, to take in consideration the space, the linen and the equipment (massage obligatorily carried out on the treatment tables provided by the organisation). Respect for body posture and privacy will be observed. In this way, the jury will be able to judge the general attitude and the relationship and listening skills of the candidate towards his or her model.

During the 30-minute session, the candidates will be judged on their body comfort, position, movements and fluidity, but also on their manual and breathing ease.

As the competitions take place in a space open to the public, in order to preserve the models' intimacy, the massage will be performed only on the back of the body: back, arms, legs, feet.

The French Massage Championship will be hosted by Isabelle Charrier, Founder and Editorial Director of Sense of WELLNESS Magazine.
