ABF Shaker Challenge

PRESENTATION

As part of its ongoing desire to pass on bartending know-how, the Association des Barmen de France is organising a national competition, the 1st ABF Shaker Challenge.

The competition is aimed at bartenders in bars, bistros, pubs, brasseries, restaurants, clubs, discotheques, cabarets and casinos, as well as those who work with beverages at trade shows and events, and even butlers.

A new cocktail list, dubbed “Essentials*”, has been specially created for this category of bartenders in order to meet their operational needs. They are easy to make, require a maximum of 2 or 3 ingredients, and involve simple decoration and low costs.

The “Imperfects*” list has been completely revised to include the most common products such as aperitifs, beer, coffee and fruit juices as well as brandies and champagne.

The tests are designed to ensure a good professional level in a competitive environment, under the benevolent eye of a jury of bar experts.

ABOUT THE ORGANISER

The goal of the Association des Barmen de France is to implement its gathering and national representation mission by bringing people together, and supervising and promoting the development of regional associations or similar.

Its objectives are to highlight and promote the bartender profession in France and abroad, to bring together professionals from all bar trades in order to present and maintain the quality and reputation of these professions in a fun way. Through its competitions and challenges, ABF promotes excellence in the industry.

Ensuring training quality for the profession is at the heart of the ABF's mission. It collaborates with the French education system to ensure the development of appropriate content in line with employer needs. The Association des Barmen de France contributes to communicating career advice information to students wishing to take the Mention Complémentaire “Barman” (MCB) qualification in hotel technical training schools, or apprentice training centres (CFA in France).
Developing its own training programme for its members allows the ABF to support the profession in the long term throughout a bartender's career.

Through the feedback it provides to the industry, the Association des Barmen de France contributes to strengthening product quality and ensuring an excellent consumer experience.
