Italy is one of the countries with the highest number of visitors and exhibitors at the show.
The country has 378 Michelin-starred restaurants (2022 edition of the guide), and with no less than 50 women with stars in the famous red guidebook, it holds the record for the most female chefs with a Michelin star.
Italy also has a tourism sector that accounted for 13% of the country’s GDP in 2019, generating over €232 billion in revenue (source: Veille Info Tourisme, Ministry of Economy and Finance, August 2019).
2021 marked a clear recovery of the sector after the crisis of 2020 and Italy is doing better than other countries and is gaining part of the global tourism market: from 3.6% of 2019 to 4.2% of 2021 (source Bank of Italy, July 2022).
